Supporting the Community Through Donations and Fundraising
Friends of Beverly Shores (FOBS) originated when a group of volunteers heard residents in our community would ask our Clerk Treasurer for assistance.
Ellen Hundt and her assistant established the Beverly Shores Gift Fund but personally funded it.
FOBS intervened by asking residents to "declutter" and donate those items for an estate sale. The first sale enabled a contribution of $13,000 to the Gift Fund in August 2020.
When a gigantic tree destroyed the stairs at Bracken Beach, FOBS held fundraisers, and the new stairs were open to the public on August 14, 2022.
After harsh winter storms made beach access impossible at Rebora, FOBS rallied and paid to extend the existing stairs in April 2023.
With the support of the community, FOBS was instrumental in raising funds to rebuild the stairs at Rebora Plaza in 2022.
FOBS partnered with the Green Space Committee to help facilitate the transfer of 19 lots from Shirley Heinze Land Trust to the town of Beverly Shores. This was the largest Green Space land acquisition to date.
"Let us help you declutter, so we may help others," has been our motto from the beginning, and thanks to the generosity of our residents, we were able to open Dunes Vintage Non-profit Resale shop in 2022.
To date FOBS, through Dunes Vintage pop-up sales, has also contributed to the Dunes Women’s Club, the Beverly Shores Administration Building, the Fire Department, The Depot, and other local organizations helping families in need.
Dunes Vintage Resale Shop accepts donations of furniture, kitchen items, home décor, artwork, jewelry, toys, sporting goods & unique clothing. Local pickups are available.
